ABOUT US

As Centre we care about the Ottoman history being entirely isolated from Turkic World Studies and becoming its own discipline. Of fact, Ottoman Studies is a broad field that can be subdivided into hundreds of subfields. However, we believe that Ottoman Studies should be conducted within the context of the Broader Turkish World paradigm in a global context, and hence we strive to bring together studies on Ottoman and Turkic identity under the one roof. The Ottoman and Turkish Studies Centre promotes intellectual dialogue and scholarship to provide a deeper, interdisciplinary, and critical understanding of Turkic World through a rigorous program in language, literature, history, politics, and culture of the Turkic World, the Ottoman Empire and Turkish Republic as well as sharing and preserving the cultural and historical heritage of rich Turkic World through projects that involve local, national and international communities to advance mutual understanding. To lead scientific research of linguistic, cultural, literal, historical, artistic, political, social, and economical structures of Turkic Peoples, and to develop Turcology and Ottoman Studies altogether.
